Night Trek - Kunti Betta

Bengaluru city not only provides for party goers, people wanting to relax in resorts but also for people wanting to have weekend outings. There are many hills, waterfalls and historic places around. A days journey can be covered in the radius of 150kms around the city.

Recently there has been a change in the entry for the trekking in many places. More information can be found here (night trekking is not allowed in most places near Bangalore due to safety reasons). We began the trip from Nayanadanahalli, Bangalore with the preparation. We packed fast food, tents and some card games. Since we had to spend a night at the peak.

Our main leg of the travel was on the train from Bangalore to Pandavapura. It took us an hours journey to pandavapura in a passenger train. An auto-rickshaw ride to Kunti Betta from there is the best option. Another way is thro
ugh road transport (bus, car, bike) which is faster than the train. We started our journey

One of my friend had collected enough information beforehand about the journey and night stay which proved to be helpful. He had trekked in the morning and knew the trails (suggestion: Reach the foot of the hill in the before the nightfall if not sure about the trail).

We trekked by night collecting some dried stems of plants nearby for the camp-fire and reached the top in 2 hours. We setup our tent on the ground and lit the camp fire. After this we boiled the noodles in the water and our dinner was sorted. The night got very windy thereafter. Luckily we had a few layers of sweaters. We played UNO for sometime and enjoyed the night light of the nearby village and a clear sky.
As the sun started to rise in the early morning, the temperature got much more pleasant and the color in the sky started to change.

We clicked some pictures and then packed up everything we bought. We then started to climb down the hill and reached a nearby bus station through auto-rickshaw and then got back to Bangalore by afternoon. It was a very memorable journey, and had a great time.

Here are some more photos from the trek. Check my Facebook page for the complete album link.
Keep tuned for more places. This is the first of 15 places around the Benagluru I am covering.
